We have inherited a set of remarkable hand bells.
At least two were made by Osborn & Arnold and others by Robert Wells as long ago as the mid 18th century. Indeed the realisation of their pedigree means the hand bells were cast at the same time as St Mary’s tower bells.
Whilst these bells are still in tune, they need some work to get them in ringing order and we are reluctant to submit such masterpieces to the rigour of 21st century ringing. Our plan is to locate them in a local museum.
We have been most fortunate to inherit from Rhona McEune a full set of 12 tuned hand bells. With many thanks to her we are putting them to good use, in training the youth of North Creake in the art of bell ringing. Our village has 29 children between the ages of 6 and 15 and we hope to get most of them involved in Appeal4Apeal
We have an organisation and chaperone service in place.
We launch them at the Fakenham Rotary Club's Ladies Evening on April 30th. We plan to take them “on the road” in 2008 and beyond for festivals, concerts and events to augment the Appeal4Apeal.
