The Community of North Creake
The charming rural village of North Creake is set close to the North Norfolk Coast. The river Burn, a chalk stream, ambles effortlessly through the village which is surrounded by rolling countryside with an abundance of woods and copses. The area lends itself perfectly to easy enjoyable strolls in a timeless environment.
Set amidst the homes of North Creake is the church of St Mary the Virgin and its rector Andrew Thompson. As well as a church, the village is served by a thriving village hall, a post office store attached to a fully operational forge/museum, playing fields and the attractive Jolly Farmers pub. The pub serves excellent drinks and meals from an extensive menu, and is ably hosted by landlords Adrian and Heather.
Close by can be found the disused English Heritage site of Creake Abbey which is well worth visiting, and alongside this you can attend the popular and lively monthly Farmers Market.
The village of North Creake is a thriving community for 700 people, and is set within the heart of mixed arable and livestock farming. The Creakes drama group, the history and gardening society and resident cricket club are all important parts that make up the true community feel of North Creake.
In the wider area you can visit the Georgian village of Burnham Market renowned for the impressive selection of shops, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants/cafés.
North Creake is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of Norfolk. Wide sandy beaches from Brancaster to Holkham, Holkham Hall – the home of Lord Leicester and its stunning grounds, The Burnhams, Wells-Next-The-Sea and the Shrines at Walsingham are all within easy reach.
